View Depreciation Transactions

This window can be used to view all of the transactions posted to the general ledger for a single asset.  A filter lets you see either the book value, federal, state, or AMT transactions.

Go to Fixed Assets > View Depreciation Transactions.

Asset #

Enter the asset # that you want to view the transactions for.

Starting Date/Ending Date

This date entries allow you to limit the transactions to a specific time period.

Last Year Closed

This entry is required if you use the delete functionality.  Enter the last fiscal year closed for Fixed Asset purposes. Keep in mind this may be different than the last fiscal year closed for the General Ledger module.

The last closed date is needed because if you delete transactions that were posted prior to this date, the program must deduct the depreciation amount from the prior year accumulated depreciation total rather than the current year.

Display

Select the type of depreciation transactions that you want to view.

You can double click on a transaction to view the details in a separate window.

A right click menu is available with additional options

Deleting Transactions

Book value depreciation entries cannot be deleted from this window.

Depreciation entries posted for tax purposes may be deleted, since they do not affect any accounting entries.

Press Shift+F2 to delete the currently highlighted transaction.

To delete all of the transactions that are currently displayed, press Ctrl+F2.

When depreciation transactions are deleted, the depreciation totals are automatically updated on the asset, for either the current year and/or the prior year, depending on when the transactions are dated.  This means that if you post depreciation entries using the wrong settings for a particular asset, you can delete the transactions, correct the settings on the asset, and repost the depreciation correctly.
