PTI Checklist

Before you begin creating GTIN numbers for your products, you will need to do the following:

• Obtain a Company Prefix from the GS-1 organization.

• Enter the Company Prefix and other necessary information in The Shipper’s Office setup. Go to Tools > Shipper Setup > Packouts/Bulk Inventory/Case Labeling tab > Case Labels/PTI section.

• Review your product code list and deactivate any product codes that you are not using. There is no need to create GTIN numbers for these items.

• Review the guidelines for assigning GTIN numbers. These guidelines are contained in documents that are available at www.producetraceability.org.

• Make sure that the validation tables with various selection criteria for Case Type, Packaging Type, Grade, Growing Method and various Units of Measure have the entries that you need for the products you pack. See instructions for See Topic: .
